There are many business networking groups in Essex. However, only a few are solely run by and for professional women in Essex. In fact, some groups such as the Round Table exclude women from their meetings. This is one of the reasons why therapist Kerryanne Gill and working mum Dawn Brailsford set up Atlantis Women, a business networking group to help women in business swap ideas and pool skills and experience to help further their own enterprises and careers. The group concentrates on complimentary medicine.
Atlantis Women meet once a month at Pontlands Park Hotel in Great Baddow for a lunch meeting, which is often more convenient than many crack of dawn breakfast meetings that other groups hold.
Kerryanne Gill explains why she set the group up:
“The idea was that we wanted to bring like-minded people who are in business together, and build a community. We help each other in any way we can, whether that be with our work or personal life.”
The club has built a “time bank”, which enables members to swap skills. Being able to get some relatively cheap and highly skilled assistance can be invaluable for any small business.
The next meeting is set for 22nd October. For more information visit their website, www.atlantiswomen.co.uk or contact them by phone: Dawn – 07973 867797, Kerryanne – 07781 745165.
