Good news for Essex and Chelmsford this week as there was a fall in the number of unemployed people in the borough of Chelmsford. Total unemployed fell from 3055 people down to 3030, with 25 people finding work. However, in the Chelmsford West area an additional 19 people signed on after losing their jobs. MP Simon Burns commented that it was disappointing that there were still so many unemployed in the area.
A lot of work is being done to help people find their way into new jobs. The RISE initiative has been set up to help people find work again after being made redundant. RISE stands for Redundancy Initiative: Supporting Enterprise and is designed to provide direct support to people who have been made redundant or are facing redundancy.
The scheme aims to support people who want to get straight back into work and will also provide guidance on training options to either enhance existing skills or develop entirely new ones to progress their career or move into a totally new role. For some, the chance to be their own boss will be irresistible and the redundancy support service will also provide help and advice on starting a new business.
RISE provides free business advice and planning and also free training courses through Chelmsford College. For further information please call the Council’s Inward Investment, Economy and Growth Team on 01245 606568.
