The Leigh Folk Festival is widely recognised as the largest free event of its type in the UK, across a range of venues around Leigh-on-Sea (and Southend).
Once again the Chelmsford V Festival will be held at Hylands Park. Tickets have sold out already though. You may be able to get tickets from 3rd party agencies though.

Essex has a proud history of brewing and many of its excellent pubs organise regular beer festivals. A pub beer festival is a great excuse the check out a pub a little further from home. Here we list the beer festivals in Essex (that we have been made aware of!) in reverse chronological order. Hopefully there is one happening near you tonight!
Essex has quite a vibrant folk scene. There are many small folk clubs tucked away in Essex, most are run in pubs on a weekly or monthly basis. Essex is also host to one of the country’s best free folk festivals, the annual Old Leigh Folk Festival that takes place each summer.

The first stop in Essex will be on the 29th March. The Queen will first visit Valentines Mansion and Gardens in Ilford, the Duke of Edinburgh is expected to join here there at 10.25am. The Queen will be in Walthamstow for lunch at Waltham Forest Town Hall on Forest Road, Walthamstow.

There are two main Christmas Carol services in Maldon this Christmas. The Annual Civic Carol Service is held at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday 14th December 2011 at 7.30pm. There will be festive refreshments in the Octagon room in the rear of the Church. You can find out more from the Maldon Tourist Board.
