Posted on Sunday, January 17th, 2010On Wednesday 20th January 2010, why not visit the Essex Later Life Expo where a host of organisations promoting health, wellbeing, sport, craft, and leisure activities will join well-known faces Dave Monk, from BBC Essex, and Christine Walkden, The One Show’s resident gardener, to show you how to make the most out of later life.
The Later Life Expo is a free event featuring over 50 exciting exhibitors, so why not come along and try your hand at bowls, take up line-dancing, badminton, fencing, table tennis or orienteering with live demonstrations and activities throughout the day.
Be inspired to cook with Ashlyns’ Organic Kitchen, pick up a new hobby with the society of model and experimental engineers, the Ramblers Association or the Hand Bell Society. Get on your bike with free bicycle MOTs, plant vegetables and flowers in one of our seed-sowing workshops or sample delicious produce from the Essex Farmers Market.
A wide-range of organisations can show you how to maximise your benefits and take advantage of support services available for older people in the county to increase quality of life. You can also get a personal health check, try a bus or find an educational course to obtain new skills.
The Later Life Expo takes place on Wednesday 20th January at Charter Hall, Colchester from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and no tickets are required.
A community bus will be providing a shuttle service to and from the Colchester bus and Colchester North train stations to Charter Hall every 30 minutes between 10am and 4pm.
