Following the success of the first ever joint Information Day (April 2010), everyone is welcome to come along to the second event set to be held on June 3 between 11am and 3pm in the marquee in the historic gardens of Rochford District Council’s South Street offices.
The Second Information Day is an exciting event put together by your local authority, NHS South East Essex, Essex Police and many others which has been designed to give people detailed information about useful local services available to them.
The event, organised by The Rochford District Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), is also linking in with National Volunteers’ Week and will give local residents the opportunity to find out about volunteering opportunities which can be personally rewarding and help ‘give something back’ to the community. Volunteers can choose from a variety of different roles; from caring for people or animals to supporting scout group or local neighbourhood watch groups to mums helping other mums to breastfeed. Volunteering work can be indoors, outdoor, administrative or physically active – there are roles to suit everyone.
As it will also be National Family Week, there will be plenty for children to get involved in from face-painting to windmill making workshops.
For the grown-ups there’s advice on fire safety, health, volunteering, consumer issues or even benefits you may be entitled to, it’s the perfect opportunity to talk to the experts, and enjoy a glass of orange squash and a biscuit in the (hopefully!) sunny weather, or under canvas.
More than 30 partners involved in the event including Rochford District Council, Essex County Council, NHS South East Essex, Essex Police and a variety of Voluntary Services partners will give presentations and be on hand to provide information as well as listening to what you want.
The Leader of Rochford District Council and Chairman of the LSP, Councillor Terry Cutmore, said: “The first Information Day in Hullbridge was a huge success and the feedback we received showed that people found it very useful and enjoyable. We hope to see even more people in the beautiful gardens of the historic Rochford District Council offices.
These Information Days are designed to provide us and all the partners in the Local Strategic Partnership the opportunity to meet residents
face-to-face and tell them about the services that are available and how we can offer help and support to them.”
There will be number of other events that will take place right across the District throughout the year, giving local residents the opportunity to find out more about the services available to them and share their feedback on what they like and what they don’t.
