11th October 2012 Update: The Chelmsford Monopoly Board is now available in shops and on Amazon.co.uk.
The development of the Chelmsford Monopoly Board is coming along well it seems. While the final details have not been announced, the latest news in is that New Hall School, Chelmsford College and St Cedd’s School have been chosen to represent Chelmsford school’s on the new board. We also now know that the Essex Chronicle will be sitting on the old Fleet Street square.

It is expected that Chelmsford Cathedral and Hylands House will be taking the prestigious purple squares, which are home to Park Lane and Mayfair on the original London board. The Essex County Cricket Club is also a hot contender for a top place on the board, and The Shire Hall is also expected to feature highly.
The Chelmsford edition will be available in October at Waterstones, WH Smith, Tesco, Waitrose, Amazon and all good book and toy shops.
There have been hints from the manufacturer of the Monopoly board, Winning Moves UK (who are producing the board under the Hasbro licence), of some of the other places on the Chelmsford board. The official product description for the board mentions Chelmsford’s wealth of transport links, its electricity and engineering history as well as the annual V Festival.
The original Monopoly board has 4 railway stations – Kings Cross, Liverpool Street, Marylebone Station and Fenchurch Street. So the Chelmsford board could well have Chelmsford Railway Station and the new Chelmsford Bus Station. Maybe Park and Ride will be featured too?
However, the big question for many people is – which streets are replacing Old Kent Road and Whitechapel Road. We know now that Chelmsford’s Central Park will take the Old Kent Road spot – obviously a very diplomatic choice, as there are no houses on the park!
Where to Buy the Chelmsford Monopoly Board
It is expected that the board will be in the shops before Christmas, and all the city’s toy shops will most likely be stocking it, along with Tesco, Waterstones, WH Smith and Waitrose. It will also be available for order online with Amazon.
