Essex Heating Oil Supplies Could Run Out This Winter
Many people across Essex rely on oil to heat their homes and businesses. The Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS), along with the government, Citizens Advice and ACRE.org.uk to remind, and encourage, people to fill up their tanks early.
Last year a combination of colder weather and heavy snow left some homes short on oil. Topping up your oil tank is there vital to ensure that you do not run dry this winter.
Also, remember to keep an eye on the level during the winter. A few cold weeks can lead to a rapid increase in the rate of consumption and it is always better to get your order in early to avoid being left out in the cold.
Mark Askew from FPS told the Essex Chronicle that many customers have got into the habit of ordering the minimum quantity of oil possible to avoid spending too much early on. This can be a good idea in mild winters, but if we have another harsh winter then you could easily run out.
Protect Your Oil
Oil thefts have risen in recent years and it is therefore more important than ever to protect your oil supply. Ensure that there is a strong lock on it and consider setting up some motion sensor security lighting to deter oil thieves.
