Toys R Us is opening a temporary store in Chelmsford to help boost sales before Christmas. Since losing Woolworths there has not been a major toy shop in town so the addition of Toys R Us, albeit a temporary one, will be welcomed by many shoppers this year.
The new Toys R Us is in the Riverside Retail Park and is open from now until after Christmas.
Toys R Us Pop-up store!
This new shop is what many people are calling a “Pop Up Store” because it literally pops up unexpectdely and then after a short time disappears again.
It is of course possible that Toys R Us may decide to keep the store in Chelmsford for longer is there is demand. The closest Toys R Us is in Basildon which although is good for car owners it is not easy to get to on public transport from Chelmsford or any areas to the north and east.
As well as toys there will also be bikes and computer games, both of which are always in high demand over Christmas.
20 new jobs created
The new toy shop in town means there are 20 new temporary jobs being created in town which will provide some essential income for some locals.

When are the store in riverside retail park going to open as it would be nice to have one here permanently as there are 2 empty shops (one of which won’t be till Dec) That is in the Chelmer Retail Park the stores are bigger and would be nice for the Chelmsford in Essex area
