A scout leader, who is also a trainee teacher, has been found guilty by Basildon Crown Court of sex offences against children. Christopher Pimm from Kelvedon Hatch was caught have sexually explicit conversations with a 15-year-old boy. The boy’s father read the conversations that Pimm’s and his son were having on the social media website Facebook.
Pim admitted to 7 child sex offences. After the police were alerted to his actions it was found that he was having similar conversations with 2 other boys, aged just 13 and 14. Also, hundreds of indecent photos of children as young as 8 years-old were found on his computer by the police.
Judge William Graham sentenced him and said that his crimes were serious due to his persistence. He was grooming the children with a flurry of messages which were attempted to get the children to talk more candidly about sex.
Pimm had met all 3 of the boys at scout meetings before he started the online relationship. During the conversations on Facebook Pimm had sent pornographic images to the boys and questioned them about their sexuality. He also made lewd suggestions to them.
Judge William Graham found him guilty of:
- Causing children to watch sexual acts
- Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- Possessing pornographic images of children
Christopher Pimm has been banned from using the Internet without monitoring and has been placed on the sex offenders register for 5 years.
