In October 2012 we updated our business directory system. We now provide only bespoke business listings through the main information pages on Essex Portal.
The old business directory is in the process of being transferred over to the new system so by the time you read this, the old directory is likely to have been deleted completely. A vast majority of listings will now be in the Information section.
More Exposure!
The good news is that the new system allows you to get more exposure for your business. It will be featured on the front page of EssexPortal when it is first published. You can provide better images, company logos and there is no limit to how much content can be added.
While your business details are not available in the traditional format of business categories, they are better optimised to be found in Google search and can be discovered via our search feature too. In short – they are designed to generate more business for you.
Submit Your Essex Business
To submit your Essex business / website URL to Essex Portal you now just follow the same method as set up for those submitting events and press releases. Simply complete this form – http://www.essexportal.co.uk/send-a-story-or-event – and make payment via Paypal. As soon as we have received payment we shall publish your listing.
If you do not receive an acceptance or rejection email within 5 business days please get in contact with us.
The Only Way Is Essex!
Please note that this is only for Essex based businesses. We receive so many submissions for companies far from Essex which do not service or operate in Essex (often not even England!). We will not consider any of these companies. This portal is designed to support Essex businesses.
However, if your company is close to Essex (Suffolk, Herts, Kent, London) and you can show that you do work in Essex we will of course consider your business.

Hi Thirumoorthy, Essex Portal is a directory for Essex businesses only. If you build or promote a website for an Essex business then you can of course list it, fees apply.
This is a great idea and one that is long overdue. Essex needs all the help it can get at the moment, especially around our area in Basildon. Lots of companies are struggling
