Last Wednesday a rock was thrown at a car in Essex. The rock was thrown at a car travelling towards Colchester along the A120 near to the turn-off to Great Bentley, the B1035.

Fortunately the woman who was struck by the rock escaped unhurt this time, although previous incidents have resulted in serious injuries.

The driver of the car saw a man standing by the road before the rock struck. He was wearing a dark top, jeans and trainers. Police are keen to speak to him or any witnesses who may have seen a man of that description in the area last Wednesday night. Witnesses should call the police on the non-emergency number, 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Earlier this year in January teenagers threw rocks at cars passing along the A138 and in December last year a concrete bollard was thrown from West Hanningfield Bridge, near Galleywood, onto a car travelling along the A12 and resulted in a severe facial injuries for Carol Manley who was travelling in the car. On the same day a lump of granite was thrown at a Vauxhall Astra on the same road.
