As the apple harvest season is fully underway, there are some fun events around the county to attend to celebrate the apple harvest.
Essex is home to over 40 different varieties of apple, including the Chelmsford Wonder, Queen, D’Arcy Spice and Discovery.
Apple Day in the Big Garden at Highwoods Country Park, Colchester, October 17th
On Saturday 17th October you can taste the unique apple varieties from Essex at a free event. There will be samples of apples and cakes to try. Which ones will be your favourites? Then try your hand crushing apples with our home made crusher, make apple prints and enter the longest peel competition.

Lathcoats Farm Apple Festival, October 24th
Lathcoats Farm hold an apple party every year. They tell us that there will be lots to see and do on the day and also competitions you can enter leading up to the day – a poetry competition for primary school children and a recipe competition open to everyone.
