The Essex Food and Drink awards have only just been given, and now a South Woodham Ferrers fish and chip shop is in the running to win the Seafish’s National Fish and Chip Shop of the Year 2009 competition.
Fish’n’Chick’n is in the final 10. Now they will be judged at an anonymous visit to the shop. The judge will assess the quality of the fish, the service, hygiene and also judge the level of sustainable sources that the shop uses.
Fish and Chips is still the nations favourite takeaway meal. On average it contains fewer calories than kebabs and curries, so is actually a slightly healthier option too.
Fish’n’Chick’n’s assistant manager has thanked all their customers for showing their support and also pointed out that one of their strong points is that they have a good variety of fish on their menu, including salmon, swordfish and tuna in additional to the classic cod, haddock and skate. Also they serve fried chicken and pork ribs.
