A new runway is being developed at Southend Airport by road haulage operator Eddie Stobart. Original proposals were to run 900 night flights each month, but after meetings with Southend and Rochford councils this has been reduced to 120 per month.
Eddie Stobart will be able to fly freight flights at night between 11pm and 6.30am. There are still further plans to form partnerships with passenger airlines to provide new passenger flights out of Southend to service the rest of the UK and possibly Europe too.
