Hot off the BBC News site:
“Staff in Chelmsford and Hatfield are on strike after the Communication Workers Union said staff voted three to one in favour of industrial action. The ballot found 61,623 out of 80,830 workers said they wanted action over changes to working practices as well as job and pay cuts. Royal Mail said the strike was only supported by 40% of all postal workers. The company and unions have been unable to resolve differences about how best to modernise the postal service. The union’s leadership is due to meet on Monday to decide their next move. Postal workers in Essex and Hertfordshire are staging a one-day walkout.”
