To mark National No Smoking Day on 9 March 2011, the NHS South East Essex Stop Smoking Team will be out and about at local supermarkets, offering help and advice to people who want to stop smoking.
The Stop Smoking Team will be at Tesco (Prince Avenue, Southend) and Morrisons (175 London Road, Hadleigh) from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm on Wednesday 9 March 2011.
The team will be on hand to talk through people’s quitting options – from where people can get support to what different medications they can use to help them quit. Smokers will be able to have a free carbon monoxide test as well.
Free Advice on Quitting Smoking
The advice is free and impartial and the team will be happy to talk to people at either venue. Tony Mardle, Acting Stop Smoking Service Manager said:
“No smoking day is a great time for people to think about their smoking and the impact it is having on their health.
If all you do is come and chat and find out what your options, this may be the first step to actually becoming smoke free. Going it alone is a difficult path to follow, but it is worth knowing that you are four times more likely to succeed with NHS support and medication than struggling on your own.”
