Two great British folk musicians are coming to Essex for one night only. Huw Williams and Maartin Allcock are playing at the Blue Boar in Maldon on Sunday 18th November.

Huw Williams

Huw Williams is a singer/songwriter whose songs have been covered by artists across Europe and America including Fairport Convention and Simon Nicol. He has regularly contributed to BBC Radio 4 and is also an Eisteddford-winning step dancer!

He has choreographed a TV show, taught Colin Jackson how to clog dance and is the brains behind Calen, the Welsh traditional band storming the folk scene at the moment.

Maartin Allcock

Maartin Allcock is a multi-instrumentalist who has been touring and recording since 1976 with a wide range of artistes including Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Mike Harding, Robert Plant and many more.

A regular contributor to Acoustic magazine he has transcribed numerous song and music books for many musicians including Richard Thompson, Dave Swarbrick, Keiran Halpin and Fairport Convention. He is currently working on a new bouzouki book (a Greek musical instrument) for Andy Irvine.

Now Huw and Maartin come together with a performance of stories about life on the road, soundchecks and how and why some of the songs were written. An evening of foot tapping tunes, beautiful songs with anecdeotes that will both and captivate and make you laugh.

One Comment on “Huw Williams and Maartin Allcock at the Blue Boar in Maldon – Sun 18 Nov 8pm”

  1. What a great gig this was. The Blue Boar is an excellent little venue for folk music – an old, traditional hotel with a great selection of beers. It was a total sell-out with standing room only at the back. Maartin and Huw were fantastic, the jokes funny, and the music good. The only downside was that from the very back some of the jokes could not be heard too well, but other than that, a great night. Chatted to the Mac Theatre and they have some more folk concerts lined up. Will have to see if those can get listed on Essex Portal.
