Greenfields Community Housing wishes to build 8 new affordable homes on the land between Parkfields and Alexandra Road. There is a consultation at Sible Hedingham Village Hall this Tuesday 15th from 3pm to 7pm where the public can view the plans and ask questions.

The homes will be a modern terraced construction in two or three blocks which consists of 4 one-bedroom flats, 2 two-bedroom houses, a three-bedroom house and a four-bedroom house. The site was previously where the Park Court Sheltered Housing Scheme was located. This was closed in 2009 due to a lack of demand for the sheltered housing. A review of the site found that despite advertising 13 of the 17 flats were empty.

Greenfields Community Housing are working with Braintree District Council to try to find a solution to the shortage in affordable homes in the area.

Replacing the old Park Court building with newer and better designed homes should be a popular choice for local residents.

Affordable homes are currently built in conjunction with larger housing projects, however, in recent years the number of new housing projects has declined and many developments have been of fewer homes which means no affordable homes have been built.

Phil Adams, Greenfields’ Chief Executive has said that they hope to build 80 new affordable homes in the Braintree District Council over the next 4 years.
