There have been reports of a cold-caller knocking on doors in Southend and selling what is claimed to be original pieces of art. The con-artist introduces himself as a student and says that the works were created by himself. However, the paintings are actually just prints.

He has been charging £80 to £120 for each so called painting. Their real value is much lower than this, nor more than a few pounds (the cost of printing each piece).

Currently examples of the artistic prints that are being sold has not been released. The image attached to this page has been added merely as an example of what a digitally produced oil painting may look like. However, if anyone offers you original art on your doorstep and you are not familiar with the methods for detecting real art and fakes, then do not purchase it.
