The White Hart Inn in Margaretting Tye is possibly the best family pub in Essex. It is a large pub / restaurant with a very well equipped family garden. The food is good and the real ales often more than acceptable, with Adnams, Mighty Oak and Red Fox often on tap. While the pub is large there are many small private corners for a quiet drink too.
The beer garden has a great selection of climbing frames for children to play on and in the winter they often have a small ice rink too.
It is open until midnight during the week and 1am on Friday and Saturday nights.
Beer Festivals
Two beer festivals are held each year, a stunning Summer Beer Festival with over 60 beers and ciders in a huge Marquee and a smaller Winter Beer Festival during October / November held indoors (beers served from the Tap Room).
Accommodation: they also have rooms with en suite available as bed and breakfast accommodation.
In 2011 it won the Essex Real Ale Pub of the Year and in 2010 it won the CAMRA best family pub (local division). In 2012 its chef, William Emberson, was a finalist in the Essex Food and Drink Awards.
