Once again season tickets are increasing at a rate above inflation. This is reportedly the 10th year that rail fares have increased above the rate of inflation. In some areas prices have increased by 8%, with an average rise of 4.2%. Several Essex stations now charge commuters over £5000 a year, which makes a significant dent in a monthly payslip.
