Excitement on Frinton Sands

Today, 27th June 2011, was the hottest day of the year (so far). We headed down to Frinton to take in the beach. Equipped with a small beach tent, wind break (not needed as no wind), picnic blanket and an assortment of buckets and spades, we headed to the beach after breakfast for a day on Essex sand.

Frinton Sands has been voted as one of the best beaches in Essex. Today the beach was quiet to start with as expected on a Monday morning, however, by the afternoon it started getting much busier with more teenagers to add to the mix of young families and local pensioners.

Soon there was a party atmosphere when one group of teenagers put on some music while they played beach football. A few people lit up barbecues and cooked burgers and others flew kites.

Many people failed to put on enough sun block so that the quintessential image of burnt white bodies was soon seen by the late afternoon.

We left at around 5pm and even though rush hour the roads were pretty clear for a quick journey home to Chelmsford.

A holiday, a holiday, the first one of the year. And hopefully many more to follow before the summer is out.
